The blighted history of the Templar Knights has followed them throughout history - even to their present-day incarnation of the Crusaders. The temptation to follow the dark gods and join the ranks of the foul is a constant threat to the holy warriors. Oddly enough, it is the highest devout priests and warriors that most often fall from grace. When a Crusader succumbs to the temptation, it is said that his or her guardian angel dies along with their soul, yet they retain some of their power as they walk this dark path. Those who cannot fully accept the paths of darkness suffer the pain of failure.
